Garnheath

Garnheath Distillery
Moffat Complex Roughrigg Road
Airdrie North Lanarkshire ML6 8PL

Owner: Inver House Distillers

Creation year: 1964

Garnheath was built in the 1960s, when hybrid distilleries (producing both malt and grain whisky) were considered a profitable model, keeping the distillery safe from potential supply problems to produce their blend. The Moffat paper mill in Airdrie has been transformed into distilleries to ensure the perenniality of the Scotch Inver House Rare blend.
Production began in 1965 and reached its peak around 1980. But soon it was the decline, due to a very high debt. Garnheath finally closed in 1986.
