The nose announces a full bodied whisky despite its young age. Beside the unavoidable "young malt" hints, recalling that the time this spirit only deserved the name of new make is not so far away..., clear hazelnut notes mix with smoke preceding other fruity notes , developing on farmy ones before coming back on the very first impressions. A very rich and complex nose anyway. This could be due to the Cognac finish.
The mouth seems less complex than the nose was. Dry fruit dominate pleasant malty tastes. An excellent aperitif whisky. As I am used to richer whiskies, I just regret that it is not available as a cask strength but this is the only negative critic it deserves.
The finish is long and warm with still this presence of dry fruit and walnut mixed with smooth malt hints.
As the distillery is unknown, I cannot directly comment this bottle on the site. I wander if this is not a young Arran...
