A nose somewhere between smoked malt and slightly peppery peat. A lack of character in the palate. Hints of oily peat and a light smoke. A rather smooth finish, of average length. Average, just like the whisky itself.

This "bottom of the range" whisky is really surprising, and it was difficult for me to give it a good appreciation. The nose recognizes a typical Islay, rather smooth, without dominant fragrances. It could have been an Caol Ila.
The peaty and smoked taste is pleasant, but the long finish is disappointing. The bitter impression contrasts with the smooth and fine taste and smell.... This malt contributes probably to the fact that many whisky lovers (who do not know other malts of this distillery) think Bowmore is not one of the greatest distilleries. My opinion is that this bottle does not really reflect the know-how of Morrison Bowmore. On the other hand, it's price makes it a single malt with a good price-quality rate.

The same difficulty to determine the ranking of this bottle, just like at the first tasting was present at the second one. Peat and smoke are present, at nosing and tasting. A certain lack at complexity, particularly in the palate, and a finish, more salty than really pleasant. However, the first quotation seems to low, even if this is not at very special bottle, and the pleasure it gives deserves more than the first quotation.
