A nose clearly marked by the smoke and the peat and giving the impression to be near the seaside, with salt and seaweed... so typical from a Caol Ila. In the palate, a very nice impression, where hints of oily peat are mixed with a kind of citrus acidity, which gives this whisky an unexpected freshness. The alcohol impression is rather strong, much more than expected for a 46% whisky. Its just a pitty the finish is so short and discrete. Anyway, an excellent bottle.

The first nose consists of quite a clear peat hiding pleasant fruity notes. the nose is rather complex, with medicinal hints and a mix of smoke and sea spray.
The mouth is rather fresh despite the peaty heaviness announced by the nose. However, this peat is very present, together with some alcohol tingling after a while. Classical mouth for a peated malt.
The warm finish is of medium length. Also essentially marked by peat.
