From the very first nosing, a kind of complexity of smells announces a good bottle. The typical Macallan sherry smell is present. Some smoke hints are detected, and the taste is rather pleasant, not too dominated by sherry.
The finish is form average length.
2004
A remarkably balanced nose with beautiful though discrete sherry hints, some smoky notes and a touch of refined wood. Floral hints and heather. Just happiness.
The impression in the palate is that this whisky could have more character (probably due to the low percentage of alcohol), but however the cashew nut and chocolate hints are quite pleasant.
The finish is rather long and the same mix of nuts and chocolate seems to dominate here too.
2009
The nose reveals clear floral hints on a peaty background, but remains in a kind of monotone register. In the palate, a kind of weakness and an evident lack of character, despite its pleasant fruity notes where smoke and peat mix discretely. A slight taste somewhere between milk chocolate an wood is part of a quite long finish, mixed with some light peaty hints.
