Walter Steimel
Color: beautiful medium amber color
Nose: Not too overpowering for almost a 60% dram....salt, beach, seaweed, oak, brine, driftwood, some raisins?.....this is a walk on the beach...with some water no change.
Taste: thick, oily, damp stuff, salt, raisins, plums, smoke, and peat, after a few seconds the heat kicks in....this one really hits you...with some water so much better...smooth, less heat, more smoke, ash, oak, with some vanilla, toasted nuts.
Finish: long...long...long...5 minutes...still going.....ash, linseed oil, paraffin, toffee, caramel, moss, damp earth, after a bit you now get the sweetness and the sherry starts to come out.
Top notch dram! If you are at the airport, stop by and pick this one up. You won't regret it. Unfortunately this is only available in select travel retail outlets. 40 ppm on the peat scale. Not overpowering, these PCs are finally starting to develop some nice complexity. I have had some younger PCs in the past and this is finally starting to come into its own....can't wait for the PC12!
