Quite an unusual mouth for a Macallan. The sherry, usually so typical for this distillery is not present here. Instead fo sherry, a great smoothness, vanilla and a nice complexity. Some discrete fruity hints and a touch of acidity characterize the smell of this whisky. In the palate, the nose impressions are not really confirmed. A woody impression (new wood?) hiding the other qulities which should exist behind this firt impression, specially nice vanilla hints. The finish is lingering and pleasant. An unexpected but very pleasant whisky. Not really representative of the distillery, but full of qualities. Great contrasts between mouth and nose, the finish confirming the mouth.
