Colour: Golden Brass, beautiful reddish glints, Scheurebe (remarkably there is no colour needed for this beautiful shine).
Nose: A very fine and subtle fruity approach – Let’s see if I get them all: Peaches, red winegrape juice, cherry jam, dried bananas, hazlenuts and marcipane backed by very delicate smoky and salty roast bacon notes and a soft limey zest. Very appealing and delicate. One of those noses to make you sorry to take the first sip.
Taste: A firm, malty and schnappsy entrance (kirsch), it is nearly impossible not to be softly disappointed after this delicate and multilayered nose. The fruits step back and give room for nuts, marcipane and fine bitter wooden notes. The peat takes a step forward, the schnapps gets softer and leads to a (again) very beautiful and round ....
Finish: mingling between bitter wooden notes, soft peat and crushed white pepper. Medium long.
Conclusion: This is a exceptional dram according to my book: There is nothing missing and the a little rude entrance on the palate can easily be absorbed with a wee drop of water. Perfect price ratio.
