A discreet nose first, delicate and smooth. Very nice floral notes with hints of hay subtly combined. Here is a whisky made in lace. The nose is extraordinary but takes some time to discover, but after a few minutes reveals a richness and complexity unsuspected at first.
The palate is pleasantly discreet, too and like the nose, of great finesse. A little watery feeling, which strengthens the discreet nature of this whisky is a bit unfortunate. Too bad it was bottled 40%, but this is probably due to the greed of the angels over the last 45 years.
For a whisky that age, lack of woody notes is remarkable. This whisky wins not to be tasted blind, because this subtlety is easy to confuse with weakness.
The finish prolongs perfectly the mouth. Some fruity notes, a lovely freshness and pleaure, again characterized by a slight subtlety.
