Scotland: Whisky & Distilleries
There is nothing wrong using IE. But since Internet Explorer - prior to version 9 - does not fully support the last version of CSS, you will miss lots of nice effects and the site could look less nice as expected...
If you want to see the site as it is meant, please try it with Chrome or Firefox or a more recent version of Internet Explorer.

Colour: Pale, fine goldenNose: Soft peat smoke combined with cane sugar, caramel and a well marked maltiness, very young and not boring at all. Later there are whalenuts and soft hints of almonds and wet hay. A whiff from the countryside. There seems to be more alcohol in the nose than the 40% may suggest. A strong and promising nose. Taste: Very balanced between the soft peat and sugar. A very fulfilling and chewy mouthfeel. There are nice cedarwood notes and herbal bitterroot notes always backed by sugary maltiness. Finish: This seems the problem to me, very short after the first and very impressing entrance the nice mouthfeel gives way to some kind of bitterness which is very pleasant (extra dry) to me but leaves a surprising flat and medium short impression. On the very end I notice some funny metallic copper notes. Conc.: This is the perfect every-day-dram to me and a great aperetif. Perhaps one should try an older bottling to gain a deeper complexity. Colour: Light golden brown (natural).Nose: Honey and beewax, combined with concentrated vanilla and whiffs of sweet pipe tobacco smoke. There is also whalenuts and later dried hay and straw stacked in a clean haybarn. Taste: Much less sweet than the nose has promised. The alcohol pretty thick in the beginning, but all notes are easy to notice. More of the hay and straw, turkish whalenut halva with honey and sweet smoke, backed by crisp and clean malt. Beautiful young spirit in very dominant oak. Finish: Medium long. Sweet and smoky with noticeable soft metallic coppery notes. Conc.: A fine dram, young and very expressive. A great “Old Style” highlander with an very own character and style. Tasting date: 21/06/2010 Price in Germany: 39,00 Euro ![]() |
