Loin du récent sondage, je viens de faire un petit tour très instructif (merci Serge) et j'essaie d'en apprendre un maximum sans avoir encore visité une distillerie.

Voici une petite liste de découverte concernant le ou un type de fût utilisé par les distilleries:

- Ardbeg => Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey (first fill)
- Bruichladdich => Tennessee whiskey?
- Lagavulin => second fill: de single grain (bourbon!)
- Springbank => second fill: de Macallan, Teaninich, Clynelish...

un bouquin sympa (edition 2005) indique pour le type of casks filled for branded malt

ardbeg 50% first fill bourbon(chiefty ex jach daniels, air dried wood, barrels rather than hogsheads ; 50% second fill bourbon (same origins); very little sherry; further finishes and experiments in hand

bowmore : 71% first fill american oak barrels; 15% first fill american oak remade hogshead;14% first fill sherry butts and puncheons

bruichladdich : about 65% first fill bourbon barrels, about 25% first refill sherry hogsheads, remainder rum and wine casks

bunnahabhain 90% first fill bourbon hogshead; 10% first fill and second fill sherry casks of various sizes

caol ila 100% second fill and Third fill american oak hogsheads and barrels for hidden malts series

lagavulin 99,5% third fill american oak hogsheads; 0,5% third fill sherry butts

laphroaig 100% first fill bourbon (chiefly ex makers mark, air dried wood, barrels rather than hogsheads)
