The nose detects a whisky with lots of character. The malt and the smoke are rather present. The palate reveals a strong and very pleasant smoke influence , on a malty background. The very interesting finish is still dominated by a complex smoky character. A great success for those who like smoky whisky.

The nose is strong, rather complex, but missing a kind of refinement and reveals smoky and woody notes. In the palate, a woody impression and the alcohol seems to be stronger than it is really. Behind the wood, some prune hints seem to appear. A lingering finis, very pleasant.

Quite a monotonous nose, even if it is rather pleasant. Malt and green fruits. A touch of smoke and flowers. The mouth is slightly more expressive than the nose was, with first some nutty bitterness developing on sweeter tastes and a touch of coffee. No exuberance however. The finish is relatively short and not really interesting.

This notes are rather different form earlier ones (evolution of the taste (whisky's or mine?) with the time...)

A complex nose, from cut grass to citrus fruits, through certain nuances of wood. In the palate, the high degree of alcohol is not bothering. Here too, an impression of discrete acidity (orange) mixed to malt hints. The finish is very pleasant and long. After long minutes, some chocolate/wood touches appear.

A nose with nice vegetal notes, cut grass or hay and citrus fruit. In the mouth, a mix of citrus and slightly woody notes, going continuously from the one to the other one, and some malty notes appear as well. Nice fruity finish, rather long first, then slightly acid, developing on more bitter notes after a while.

Speyside

Speyside Map

The Speyside area is situated at the North of the Cairngorm mountain and goes to the Moray firth. It is delimited by two rivers: the Findhorn at the West side and the Deveron on the East side.
The area is named after the river Spey. Most of the distilleries take their water in one of its affluents; the Fiddich, the Livet or the Avon.
About sixty distilleries from Speyside are described on this site.
