Wilson & Morgan

Independent bottlers

The Wilson & Morgan company, independent bottlers based in Italy, is linked to the history of the Venetian wine merchants family Rossi.
The whisky adventure begins in the 1960's for the company, and according to the tastes of the consumers in those days, the first importations from Scotland concerned blended whiskies. After a few years, the Rossi family moved on to imports of deluxe blends, taking the refined taste of the Italian market in consideration.
The third generation, represented by Mario Rossi, current director of Wilson & Morgan started in the 1980's with single malt selections, and the brand "King of Whiskies" was born. In 1992, while the popularity of single malt was growing, Mario Rossi founded the Wilson & Morgan company. The brand would specialize in high quality single malts from the very beginning. However, even if the market was good in those days, the quality of available whisky was not optima, and certainly behind the company's standards. The solution for Mario Rossi was then in a close cooperation with a Scottish partner, William Cadenhead.
Later on, Mario Rossi visited most of the Scottish distilleries, and bought the casks he thought were good enough for his "Barrel Selection" collection. Most of those casks stay in the warehouses of the distilleries until they are good enough to be bottled.
Wilson & Morgan is one of the few non-Scottish entities which select only the best malts and distribute them internationally under their own brand name.
