The society was founded in 1936 and is one of the most important family business in the world of whisky. Like most of the independent bottlers, bottling is just a part of their business. Blending is their main activity. .
Leonard Russel, founder of the company has always preferred a total independence with respect to the distilleries, and the malts bottled by Ian McLeod must have the quality criteria of the company.
They recently purchased the Glengoyne distillery.
"Chieftain's Choice", "Dhun Beaghan" and "McLeod's Single malt" are the single malt collections marketed by Ian McLeod.
