The Whisky Galore is part of the Duncan Taylor group, himself created by the Rosenberg brothers in 1938. The company consists in a small group of experts in single malt.
Whisky Galore selects carefully its whisky at the distilleries, and bottles the single malt without adding any colorings and without chill filtering it. The whiskies marketed by Duncan Taylor are bottled after a rigorous selection of the spirit and of the cask it self, and matured in the warehouses of the producing distillery. The society owns its own bottling plant in Huntly.
The Peerlees collection, belonging to the same group, has won lots of prizes.
The name of the company comes from the famous sinking of the SS Politician who wrecked near the coasts of Eriskay, on the west coast of Scotland in 1941. The ship was carrying whisky, and the inhabitants around there could drink quite cheap whisky for a while.
