HISTORY
The Warenghem distillery has been created in Lannion in Brittan on July 1, 1901 by Léon WARENGHEM, who was born in the Nord Pas de Calais, (North of France). The distillery has been managed successively by Henri WARENGHEM, Paul-Henri WARENGHEM and Yves LEIZOUR. In 1983 the current manager, Gilles LEIZOUR, took the distillery over.
This familial and artisaal business has developed a know how in the field of spirits over the last 100 years. The motto of the enterprise is "tradition and innovatoin". Currently 14 employees are working on the elaboration of the produts.
In 1987, Gilles Leizour created the first Breton whisky: WB, made of 25% malt and 75% grain whisky. In the meanwhile, another product, Armorik, a Breton single malt, has completed the line.
Brittany is another celtic country, and the climate seems to be good for whisky maturation: iodine, wind, sea. The source is situated under the distillery and its water s filtered by the granite layers of the Breton soil.
