Braeval (Braes of Glenlivet) 1996 Jean Boyer
This whisky emanates nice passion fruit, honey and nut aromas. This version is matured in sherry casks, which enhance the fruity side of Braeval and make it nicer.
Two sherry casks of each 500 litres have been distilled on July,17 1996 and bottled in September 2004. About 1700 bottles were produced.
(Note from the producer)
After a while, the nose is clearly marked by pepper. This whisky is not very complex, but some clearly marked fruit notes (pears, exotic fruits) and pepper make it rather promising. But in the palate, it seems less interesting. A kind of veil surrounding the taste, which is unable to express itself completely. There should be some complexity, but hidden by this veil;..The finish is more clear: some milk chocolate hints and clear nut (or wood) hints.
